HIV/AIDS Testing & Awareness

Most Recent Event

On June 27th, HAWI conducted an overwhelmingly successful distribution of nearly 175 HIV Self-Test Kits at the Lee Road Walgreen’s, as part of the nationwide National HIV Testing Day. This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with Greater Than HIV and our local Walgreen’s, as one of the many nonprofits participating. On the same date we educated youth in Homabay County, Kenya about HIV testing methods, conducted counseling sessions, and discussed preventive measures, faithfulness, and linking those with positive results to proper care. The youth also learned about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases while enjoying a wide assortment of provided refreshments and beverages.

Our prior events have been dedicated to raising awareness and promoting prevention measures for HIV and MPOX. We have organized initiatives aimed at distributing complimentary HIV self-tests to individuals who may benefit from them, ensuring accessibility to this crucial diagnostic tool. Furthermore, we have provided a range of informational resources, educational materials, and support services to empower communities in their efforts to prevent and manage these health concerns. Our commitment to enhancing public health and well-being remains steadfast, as we continue to engage in such impactful endeavors.
